Features of Yamaha Sound bar YAS-209

Body and Design

The 36.6 x 4.3 x 2.5-inch YAS-209 is a thin Yamaha sound bar, but it doesn’t sound thin, thanks in part to its very large 16.5 x 16 x 7.5-inch wireless subwoofer. Although many soundbars try to find ways to shrink the sub, it will definitely take up some space in your room. The main unit has four 1.75-inch drivers and two 1-inch tweeters, while the sub has a 6.5-inch woofer.

The YAS-209 has an HDMI output and an HDMI input with optical digital audio and Bluetooth. To use Alexa — as well as stream from Spotify or Amazon Music, you need to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

At the top of the soundbar are LED indicators for selected inputs and sound modes; Those LEDs also show the volume level when you change it. You can control power, select inputs and activate (or mute) Alexa via touch-sensitive buttons. You can also change settings with the included remote or the free Yamaha Sound Bar app.

Installation

Connecting the Yamaha Sound Bar YAS-209 to my TV using an HDMI cable was easy. To enable Alexa and music streaming, you need to download the free Yamaha Sound Bar app (previously the Yamaha sound bar used its HT Controller app) and it walks you through the activity. Connecting to your network. The YAS-209 can only connect to a 2.4-GHz wireless network, or you can use a wired Ethernet cable.

Voice Control

Alexa was responsive to my requests – it changed volume and input on the Yamaha sound bar, and also handled common Assistant requests, like providing the weather and turning on a Waymo switch. Alexa works even when the soundbar is turned off.

However, it couldn’t do everything I wanted it to do; For example, it cannot turn the soundbar on or off.
Be sure to update the firmware on the soundbar when you install it, as previous versions had a bug that caused Alexa responses to be too loud when playing videos. The latest version fixes this.

Performance

The Yamaha Sound Bar YAS-209 sounded great, when I watched TV shows and movies. Dialogue has excellent depth and gravitas, thanks to the subwoofer, and it produces a spacious sound when using the 3D surround mode. It’s not quite as across as the Sonos Beam, but it delivers better bass — although, considering it has a separate subwoofer, I’d have liked it to deliver more low end.

During Avengers: Endgame, the YAS-209 made quiet dialogue scenes easier to understand. But in the big battle between the Avengers and Thanos, I was expecting to feel more floor rattling from the low-frequency effects. The witty dialogue between the various Spider-Man, Woman, and Pig in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was easy to listen to over the bass-heavy soundtrack.

I was even more impressed with the way the sound bar handled a variety of music in stereo mode. The bass of Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” pounded the floor and her voice was still clear.

The Yamaha Sound Bar YAS-209 offers different modes to adjust the sound according to your preferences, including movies, music, sports, TV programs and games. You can switch to stereo mode to listen to two-channel sources. Plus, you can enable 3D Surround for a wider sound, Clear Voice to boost dialogue, and Bass Extension for deeper low-end sounds.

Conclusion

In today’s world, soundbars are considered as one of the most important and entertaining for many people, Yamaha Sound bar YAS-209 is one of the soundbars nowadays. Because I think the Sound bar is a great performance sound bar at an affordable price.

Its design will make you very attractive. And SPECS, Price and availability, are expected to be within your means. And so I hope you will be encouraged to buy sound bar considering Voice control, Price and availability, SPECS, Installation, Design, etc.
